I thought I’d share the deck here because Jason’s mission was unique: we were sponsoring a meeting of people largely opposed to commercial software and definitely opposed to SQL databases, so he had to tread lightly, say what he had to say, and get out.

Dave Kellogg is CEO of Mark Logic Corporation, which develops and markets an XML server. Mark Logic raised its first round of funding in 2003 from Sequoia Capital. Prior to Mark Logic, I was SVP of marketing at Business Objects (BI), VP of marketing at Versant Corp (ODBMS), and worked in both technical and marketing positions at Ingres Corp (RDBMS). I'm also on the board of big data analytics vendor, Aster Data.

With one or at most two slides, I was able to understand your product and make a preliminary "no-buy" vs. "seriously investigate/buy" decision.
